Printing and mounting my final images

I wanted my final images to be printed big, because I was shooting with medium format camera and the images would look the best when printed large. Due to the fact that me and Abi went to the venue twice and the second time we measured the walls I knew how much space I had. I made a small calculations  and the largest that I could get was A1. So 3 A1 prints 20 cm between them an 30 cm on both sides. I also knew that we can't drill in the walls. We could use nails, but my images were too big for nails to support. I was advised by the one of the venue managers that I could use the metal RSJ beam to hang my images.

First of all I printed my images. I decided to use semi-gloss paper as I have tried it before at it looked really good.

Due to the fact that my images were A1 size I needed to use thicker board than mounting one that we have in the mounting room. Otherwise my images would bend. So I decided to use mdf board that we have in 3D workshop area. They only had 6mm and 15mm. The 6mm was still to thin, so we had to use 15mm. We asked one of the tutors from there to cut the board to the right size. At the beginning it looked like it is going to be way too big, but when it was cut to the right size it started to look good.

We we had our boards ready we painted the backs and the sides black and also the tops, because we will need to drill holes there later for a D shackles to go in.

The next the holes were drilled and I was able to mount my images on the boards.

The process was harder that I expected. Due to the fact that the boards were very big it was hard to put the image straight onto board. Till we learned how to do it we ruined to prints, that we needed to print again. But John showed us a better way how to do it. Instead of putting the image on the board. We put the board on the image that was taped on the table, so it wouldn't slide.

And that is how my images were mounted. There was a small mistake that we did. After drilling the holes we didn't clean the boards properly and when applying the sticky film on some got under it and I saw that just when we mounted the images, because there were a few small bumps on them.
